Vanilla Custard
Ingredients
- 4 cups heavy cream
- Seeds from 1 Grade-A vanilla bean pod
- 1 teaspoon butter
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup cane sugar
- 3 tablespoons organic cornstarch
Directions
- Whisk eggs, sugar, and cornstarch together in a bowl until the sugar dissolves.
- Place heavy cream, vanilla bean seeds, and butter in a saucepan. Bring liquid to a simmer over medium heat (DO NOT BOIL).
- Slowly pour in egg mixture, continuously whisking, until custard is thick enough to coat the back of a spoon (5- 12 minutes).
- Pour the custard into serving dish(es) and place plastic wrap directly on the surface of the custard, leaving no space between the plastic and custard.
- Refrigerate the custard for 3-4 hours (overnight is best) before serving.
- Finish with pistachios and a lace chocolate.
